Microsoft was contemplating if they should enter into multimedia with its Windows Media while a host of small developers were searching to find the best codec and algorithm. No one was even speaking of streaming media. In fact, when Victoria Secret gave it a try it failed miserably. Video on the Internet was considered taboo!
